Sydney Part 2!

Revisiting the Opera House

If you like Australia but can't quite imagine yourself working there - then living in NZ is your next best bet since it still makes that country sooooo accessible.

That's exactly how PIC and I feel about our Aussie neighbours. Love the big cities, the culture, the availability of so much choice and just the overall buzz of it. Somehow though, having dealt with a few Aussies in NZ, we tend to prefer the Kiwi work space a bit more. Hence the lack of motivation to move.

What we do have in OZ though are tons of friends.

This second trip to Sydney was concocted for the express purpose of visiting friends. We had a long weekend on our hands so why not.

Manly Beach
I guess this was the first trip where we didnt have anything planned really, our hosts did all the planning for us. To be honest, that was a bit of a revelation. We've been so used to having a list to tick off that our travels, while highly enjoyable, usually tend to be quite hectic. Plus we hardly ever get the chance to double back as there is always so much more of the world left to see.

While day one was spent faffing about in the city and just getting reacquainted with it days two and three were full on with friends.

A day with the dogs :P
Day 2 was a day spent in Manly beach, we took the ferry, got there, had lunch, drove around for the sights then headed back to the city for a quick fresh up then dinner and drinks with the same merry band.

Day 3 was a bit more chill, our hosts live about an hour out of the city and we all headed there and pretty much took over their house. There was no agenda, just a barbeque, drinks, and a 7 year old who kept us all whirring.

You know you're in AUS when...
While we had oodles of fun, this also meant we weren't able to visit our other friends in Sydney. But we know we'll be back.

Travel tip? While I will always say try to see a new place each time you get the chance to travel anywhere -- sometimes doubling back isn't so bad. When you do, make sure you do something different and pretend you're a local, just soak it in. Leave the list home or at least for the next new destination.
