2011 in Review

Smiling from the Grand Canyon

In the year that was, I started this blog with the very noble intention of churning out at least one blog post a week. I ended up with 46 out of a potential 52. So apart from my 88% success rate on blogging, here's how I did on my 2011 To Do List:

  1. I said I'd run a half marathon, but missed out on the sign up deadline. I blame my unwilling subconscious on that oversight but in my defense, I did run a 10k this year. For now, that ought to suffice.
  2. I did not get to learn tennis but
  3. I did get to learn squash and even managed to make a Tuesday habit out of it. That has sadly gone to the wayside now but let's hope that picks up again soon. Otherwise purchasing his and hers racquets for myself and PIC would become a total waste.
  4. I did learn to surf this year. I was out on the water twice and even managed to stand up on my own a few times. I might want to learn how to swim better though before I attempt to do any more surfing.
  5. Get cooking lessons... hmm, does watching youtube count?
  6. I did get to tour Sydney and it was awesome. PIC and I also managed to catch up with our friends which was even better. This reminds me, that blog post is still in draft and really needs to get published
  7. Does a bungee swing count against this if I had originally said bungee jump? I still want to jump off the Auckland Harbour Bridge but I'm still working on trying to convince PIC that I wont die trying. This continues to be a work in progress folks
  8. We did manage to find ourselves in the US West Coast just before the year ended so I say this should count as a success against my list. We arrived in LA on the 31st of December so I say we hit the deadline just in the nick of time. We were at LA, San Diego, Las Vegas, and San Francisco. I would have loved to go to Seattle but I guess that needs its own chapter.
  9. No Cape Reinga though. Maybe we can do this when our friends come over to visit -- calling K & P, that's your cue to start planning your visit over
  10. Sadly I did not learn to ski. Despite the 10,000 Grab One vouchers discounting rates at Ski Planet. Somehow I think I am holding off till I can try the real thing on real snow. I wonder how 2012 will be for that.
Anyway boys and gals, that's my list for the year. On to the next!
